Mechanical Engineer

An established engineering and construction company is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join its growing project delivery team. This is an exciting opportunity to work on large-scale mining industrial infrastructure and energy projects managing the full construction lifecycle from planning through to commissioning and handover.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate Structural Mechanical and Piping (SMP) construction activities across multiple projects.
• Review engineering drawings specifications P&IDs and technical documentation.
• Monitor construction progress and ensure projects remain on schedule.
• Coordinate subcontractors supervisors and construction teams.
• Conduct site inspections and ensure work meets quality and engineering standards.
• Identify and resolve technical issues affecting project delivery.
• Liaise with clients consultants and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Monitor productivity resource utilisation and material requirements.
• Prepare project reports and technical documentation.
• Ensure compliance with all SHEQ requirements.
• Support commissioning testing and final project handover.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelors Degree or National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years experience in SMP construction within the mining industrial power or heavy engineering sectors.
• Sound knowledge of structural steel mechanical equipment installation piping systems and construction methodologies.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings P&IDs isometric drawings and technical specifications.
• Strong understanding of quality control and construction standards.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and engineering/project management software.
• Valid drivers licence.
• Willingness to travel and work on project sites when required.
• ECSA registration (Professional or Candidate) will be advantageous.
