SAFETY OFFICER

Key Responsibilities

• Safety Management: Enforce adherence to the Occupational Health and Safety (OHSA) Act and conduct routine hazard identification and risk assessments.
• Environmental & Quality Control: Implement ISO standards (e.g., ISO 14001 for environment, ISO 9001 for quality) to reduce workplace environmental impacts.
• Incident Investigations: Investigate workplace accidents and near-misses, produce root-cause reports, and recommend preventative safeguards.
• Training & Reporting: Facilitate safety inductions, toolbox talks, and emergency drills, while maintaining detailed compliance records.
• Liaison: Act as the primary point of contact between the organization, government inspectors (e.g., Department of Employment and Labour), and external auditors.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Education: A relevant diploma or degree in Safety Management, Environmental Science, or a related field.
• Certifications: Accredited safety qualifications like SAMTRAC, SHEMTRAC, or NEBOSH.
• Experience: 2 to 5 years of practical health and safety experience, particularly in high-risk sectors like manufacturing
• Skills: Strong analytical thinking, crisis management, computer literacy, and excellent communication skills.
