About the Opportunity
Are you a results-driven commercial professional with a deep technical background in process instrumentation and industrial automation? We are currently recruiting on behalf of a global leader in process instrumentation, measurement solutions, and industrial automation. As part of their continued strategic expansion across Africa, our client is seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to strengthen their commercial footprint across West Africa, with a primary focus on the high-growth Nigerian market.
Reporting directly to the General Manager for South Africa, you will play a pivotal role in driving long-term strategic growth, building key partnerships, and leading high-value industrial project wins across the region.
Key Responsibilities
- Market Growth & Strategy: Develop and execute strategic business development plans to expand market presence across Nigeria, Ghana, Liberia, and Angola.
- Key Account & Relationship Management: Manage existing client accounts, acquire new customers, and build strong relationships with end-users, EPC contractors, engineering firms, and OEMs.
- Partner & Channel Management: Identify, develop, and manage distributors and representative partners, supporting their sales teams with joint client visits and technical insights.
- Commercial Execution: Prepare competitive technical/commercial proposals, lead contract negotiations, and deliver high-level technical solution sales.
- Market Intelligence: Utilize CRM systems to track sales pipelines, accurately forecast revenues, track competitor activity, and report market intelligence to regional management.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with regional internal sales, product specialists, service engineering, and marketing teams to ensure client satisfaction and project success.
Key Requirements
- Education: Bachelors Degree in Engineering or an equivalent technical field.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of successful business development/sales experience within industrial instrumentation, process industries, or automation.
- Market Knowledge: Deep understanding of the Nigerian industrial market, with an established network in the Oil & Gas sector being strongly advantageous.
- Track Record: Proven ability in managing EPC contractors, technical channel partners, and industrial end-users.
- Core Competencies: Entrepreneurial mindset, strong negotiation abilities, strategic thinking, and the self-motivation to work independently.
- Travel & Documentation: Valid driver's license and passport, with the willingness to travel 5060% of the time across the designated territory.
- Languages: Fluent English is required. Proficiency in French or Portuguese is a distinct advantage.
