Job description

Seize the opportunity to shape economic strategies and influence impactful financial solutions within a leading financial services provider that champions innovation and thought leadership across Africa. This senior role offers a platform for experienced economists to drive macroeconomic insights that directly inform client success and industry growth.

Where You'll Make an Impact:

  • Build and maintain sophisticated macroeconomic models to produce accurate forecasts for the South African economy.
  • Advise clients on global macroeconomic trends, including inflation, supply chain issues, the energy transition, automation, and digital economy developments.
  • Develop strategic recommendations to enhance client enterprise value based on macroeconomic, industry, and investor insights.
  • Lead the creation of influential thought leadership pieces on macroeconomic trends for external publication.
  • Design engagement strategies to help clients craft rapid, data-driven growth and profit strategies.
  • Conduct thorough research and analysis on economic developments related to energy, infrastructure, decarbonisation, and regenerative initiatives.
  • Assess project impacts and economic development initiatives to provide actionable insights.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations, defending findings with clarity and confidence.
  • Offer expert advice on economic and development issues to private and government sector clients.
  • Seek out new data sources and perform secondary research to ensure analysis remains current and accurate.

Requirements:

  • Masters degree in Economics, Econometrics, Mathematics, or Statistics with a strong foundation in economics.
  • Proven experience of 3 to 6 years in macroeconomic analysis or related fields.
  • Proficiency in building models, conducting analysis, and forecasting.
  • Strong financial analysis skills.
  • Excellent data handling and analytical skills.
  • Technical proficiency in Python, Stata, and Tableau Software.

Familiarity with the following:

  • Financial services, banking, fintech, and investment industries.
