Job Description
Cape Joy is a working wine farm, restaurant, and guesthouse in the heart of Klapmuts. We are looking for a Weekend Barista to lead our coffee offering delivering consistently excellent coffee, training junior staff, and ensuring our coffee station runs like clockwork.
Requirements
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience as a barista in a high-volume environment
- Advanced knowledge of coffee extraction, milk texturing, and latte art
- Strong understanding of coffee bean origins, roasting profiles, and flavour notes
- Experience training or mentoring junior staff
- Reliable transport to and from Klapmuts (essential)
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Sharp attention to detail and consistency
- Work on Friday's to Sunday's
- A warm, guest-focused attitude
- Advantageous (but not essential):
- Barista certification (e.g. SCA, CQI, or similar)
- Experience in a luxury hospitality or wine farm setting
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards
- Experience with stock management and ordering systems

- Develop and refine coffee recipes and seasonal specials
- Ensure the coffee station meets hygiene and presentation standards at all times
- Provide exceptional guest service — engaging with guests, handling queries, and creating a welcoming atmosphere
