About the Role

Our client, a multi-disciplinary firm of Chartered Accountants in Cape Town, is seeking a technically strong Professional Accountant to join their team. This role is ideal for a newly qualified SAIPA member who enjoys client interaction, delivering accurate financial insights, and mentoring junior staff within a modern, professional environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise the monthly accounting department and oversee the work of junior staff and SAIPA trainees.
• Manage a diverse client portfolio, acting as the primary point of contact for financial queries and advisory.
• Oversee the preparation and review of management accounts, budgets, and cashflow forecasts.
• Prepare and review Annual Financial Statements in accordance with IFRS for SMEs.
• Ensure the timely submission of all statutory returns and maintain regulatory compliance.
• Provide clients with accounting and software support, driving efficiencies through modern ERP systems.
• Assist Directors with ad-hoc advisory projects and client-focused initiatives.
• Support staff development by providing coaching and reviewing technical outputs.

Requirements

• Completed SAIPA or SAICA articles (Fully qualified).
• Essential software proficiency: Xero and Caseware (Required).
• Working knowledge of Pastel Partner and Sage One.
• Experience with Microsoft 365 (Excel, Word, and Outlook).
• Strong technical knowledge of VAT, as well as Company and Individual Tax.
• Proven experience in preparing statutory accounts and supervising junior team members.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical matters to clients.
• Own transport and a valid driver’s license are essential.
• Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines under pressure.
