Senior Property Financial Accountant

Africrest is looking for an experienced Senior Property Financial Accountant to join our finance team. In this pivotal role, you'll take ownership of the accounting processes, records and financial data for a portfolio of properties, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial information that underpins the company's key decisions.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

• Prepare monthly financial journals, review general ledger and balance sheet movements, and manage reconciliations and re-allocations across properties and companies.
• Own intercompany loan reconciliations maintaining, analysing and investigating balances, and preparing correction journals.
• Manage the fixed asset function, including capitalisation, depreciation and reconciliation of the fixed asset register on the MDA system.
• Prepare income statement movement analysis and actual-vs-budget variance reports per property.
• Compile monthly management accounts (Income Statement & Balance Sheet) and assist with covenant reporting.
• Support quarterly Board reporting schedules and funder interest payment processing.
• Contribute to annual tax schedules, budget preparation, and year-end audit files, liaising directly with auditors.
• Proactively identify and implement improvements and efficiencies in accounting processes.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• BCom Accounting degree (required).
• Minimum 4 years' experience in an accountant role (required).
• Completed articles with an audit or financial advisory firm (preferable).
• Property accounting experience, ideally with MDA Property Manager software (preferable).
• Solid understanding of intercompany loan accounting, balancing and interest calculations.
• Strong grasp of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
• Advanced Excel skills.
