Our client is a leading, household-name financial services group in South Africa, housing some of the countrys most loved and recognizable insurance brands. Driven by customer-focused innovation and cutting-edge technology, they are expanding their team and seeking an ambitious Broker Business Development Consultant to drive profitable growth across their traditional broker channel.
The Role
As the Broker Business Development Consultant, you will be responsible for building, maintaining, and enhancing strategic relationships with new and existing traditional brokers. You will showcase the group''''s full value chain to unlock new opportunities, drive sales targets, and ensure exceptional portfolio performance.
Key Responsibilities:
Relationship & Sales Strategy: Develop and execute broker contact plans, communicate new product launches, and roll out targeted sales campaigns to drive volume and retention.
Portfolio & Account Management: Manage broker portfolios end-to-end, tracking sales, leads, cancellations, premium income, and claims ratios against targets.
Client Service & Issue Resolution: Serve as the primary point of contact for broker queries, resolving complaints efficiently, and escalating complex matters when required.
Broker Enablement & Training: Ensure brokers remain continuously up to date on products, processes, compliance, and TCF (Treating Customers Fairly) principles.
Performance Tracking & Market Intelligence: Deliver actionable feedback on broker segments and trends to remove growth constraints and optimize deal-making.
Industry Networking: Represent the group at relevant industry events and actively build strong internal/external networks.
What We Are Looking For
Qualifications & Accreditations (Essential):
Grade 12 or SAQA Accredited Equivalent.
Regulatory Examination (RE) qualification.
Relevant Short-Term Insurance qualifications (e.g., Business/Personal Lines Insurance).
Full compliance with FAIS requirements and up-to-date CPD accreditation.
Advantageous: B.Com, Higher Diploma, or an equivalent business-related qualification.
Experience & Skills:
35 years of proven experience in an insurance sales or key account management role (Essential).
Background in the Long-Term Insurance industry is advantageous.
Bilingualism (English & Afrikaans) is required for effective client engagement.
In-depth understanding of how a brokerage operates alongside working knowledge of Binder Agreements, FAIS, FICA, and commercial insurance processes.
Strong commercial acumen, presentation skills, and proficiency in MS Office.
