Generator Technician

Our client is seeking an experienced Generator Technician to join the Port Elizabeth team

• Perform routine preventative maintenance (oil changes filter replacements cooling system flushes) on diesel and petrol generators
  
• Troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical faults including engine controllers AVRs (Automatic Voltage Regulators) and fuel systems
  
• Conduct minor engine overhauls and component replacements
  
• Assist in the positioning wiring and commissioning of new power units and Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS)
  
• Perform load bank testing to ensure systems operate within specified parameters under stress
  
• Maintain accurate digital logs of service history parts used and site conditions
  

Requirements

• Grade 12
  
• Trade Tested Electrician
  
• Minimum of 35 years of experience in generator mechanics or industrial electrical systems
  
• Strong understanding of diesel engine mechanics and AC/DC electrical theory
  
• Familiarity with controllers such as Deep-Sea Electronics (DSE) ComAp or Lovato
  
• In-depth knowledge of health and safety protocols regarding high-voltage equipment and fuel handling
  
• Valid Code EB (or higher) license is essential for site visits
  
• Availability for an on-call rotation to handle after-hours emergency repairs
