Cost and Management Accountant

Our client is seeking a Cost & Management Accountant to join their finance team. This role is ideal for a finance professional who enjoys working closely with operations, analysing costs, and transforming financial information into meaningful business insights.

The successful candidate will play a key role in costing, management reporting, budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and operational decision-making. This position provides the opportunity to work closely with senior management while supporting the continued growth and success of a manufacturing operation.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts and supporting reports
• Develop and maintain product costing models
• Analyse raw material, labour, overhead, and production costs
• Monitor manufacturing variances and investigate discrepancies
• Perform gross profit and margin analysis
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow projections
• Monitor actual performance against budgets and provide variance analysis
• Support pricing decisions and profitability reviews
• Analyse inventory, work-in-progress, and finished goods
• Assist with stock valuations and stock reconciliations
• Prepare financial and operational dashboards
• Support month-end and year-end reporting processes
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and process improvements
• Work closely with production, procurement, sales, and management teams
• Assist with ad hoc financial modelling and business analysis

Job Experience and Skills Required

Education

• BCom Degree in Cost & Management Accounting, Accounting, Finance, or a related field

Experience

• Minimum 3-5 years' relevant accounting experience
• Experience in product costing and management accounting
• Strong financial analysis experience
• Experience preparing management accounts, budgets, and forecasts
• Manufacturing industry experience advantageous

Skills

• Advanced Microsoft Excel
• Costing and variance analysis
• Budgeting and forecasting
• Financial modelling and reporting
• Inventory and stock accounting
• Sage 200 Evolution or similar ERP system advantageous
• Power BI exposure advantageous
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
