Our client, a well-established mid-sized wealth management and financial services firm based in Cape Town, is seeking an experienced Tax Manager to lead its tax function. This is an excellent opportunity to join a respected organization where you'll oversee a broad range of tax compliance services, manage a dedicated team, and work with a diverse portfolio of clients.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the tax department.


• Oversee the preparation, review and submission of all tax compliance matters, including:
  
  
  
  • Individual, Company and Trust Income Tax
  
  
  • Provisional Tax
  
  
  • VAT
  
  
  • PAYE
  
  
  • Dividends Tax
  
  
  • Capital Gains Tax
  
  
  • Other SARS tax compliance obligations
  
  
  
  


• Review tax calculations, assessments and reconciliations to ensure accuracy and compliance.


• Liaise with SARS regarding audits, verifications, objections, disputes and general tax matters.


• Stay abreast of changes in tax legislation and ensure clients remain compliant with current regulations.


• Manage departmental workflow, allocate work effectively and ensure deadlines are consistently met.


• Mentor, coach and develop members of the tax team.


• Foster strong client relationships by delivering exceptional service and practical tax solutions.


• Identify opportunities to improve internal processes and operational efficiencies.

Minimum Requirements

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Taxation, Accounting or a related field.


• Professional membership with SAIT or another recognised professional tax or accounting body.


• Minimum of 5 years' practical tax experience.


• Previous experience within an accounting or audit practice is essential.


• Comprehensive knowledge of South African tax legislation and all major tax compliance types.


• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines independently.


• Previous experience leading or supervising a tax team.


• Strong working knowledge of SARS eFiling and tax administration processes.


• Excellent analytical, communication and interpersonal skills.


• High level of accuracy, professionalism and attention to detail.
