Introduction

Area of specialization: To ensure optimal line performance and a sustained and continuous quality of supply by efficiently and effectively implementing line control and lines and servitudes maintenance plans and programmes.Task Grade: T07. Business Unit: North-East Grid Location: Middelburg CLN: Eskom Park

Key Responsibilities

• Line maintenance and repairs management
• Safety responsibility
• Line inspection
• Perform environmental inspection and take remedial action
• Business plan and budget control

Knowledge:

• Transmission network
• Working knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions of line work
• Considerable knowledge of the principles of electrical theory
• Operating regulations high voltage system (ORHVS) authorization to take plant handover
• Basic knowledge of occupation health safety Act (OHSA)
• Software applications e.g fault analysis lightning system, traveling wave system, transmission information system, advanced fire information system, Phoenix, system application and products plan maintenance

Skills:

• Communication
• Operation of the listed tools and equipment
• Drivers license Code 8 AND Advance 4x4 driving
• Computer literate (particularly Microsoft word and excel packages)
• Ability to work at heights
• Level 2-line maintenance competency authorization
• Level 4 (Emergence restoration system lead supervisor) Construction Competency Authorization (CCA)

Qualification(s):

• Grade 12/NCV4/NSC3/N3 and languages/Diploma/Certificate in the relevant function at NQF 4 with credits 120

Experience:

• 2 years related technical experience
