About the Role

Our client is looking for a meticulous and experienced Database Administrator (DBA) to manage their critical database systems in Randburg. You will be responsible for the installation, configuration, performance tuning, and security of our databases. Ensuring data integrity, availability, and security is paramount in this role. This is an excellent opportunity for a DBA who wants to work with a variety of database technologies and contribute to the stability and performance of our core data infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and upgrade database software and related products.
• Monitor database performance and tune for optimal efficiency and speed.
• Implement and maintain database security measures and user access controls.
• Perform regular database backups and disaster recovery planning.
• Troubleshoot and resolve database issues, ensuring high availability.
• Collaborate with development teams to optimize database design and queries.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience as a Database Administrator.
• Strong proficiency with SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, or PostgreSQL.
• Experience with database backup, recovery, and performance tuning techniques.
• Understanding of database security best practices.
• Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., T-SQL, PL/SQL) is advantageous.
