Production Manager - Blueberries

A blueberry farm near Nelspruit, Mpumalanga is seeking an experienced Production Manager to lead daily farm operations and manage a supervisory team across crop production activities.This is a hands-on role responsible for the financial and physical performance of the farm, from land development and planting through harvesting and maintenance. You will oversee daily planning, organisation, supervision and management of staff across all production sections, implementing both short- and long-term business strategy set by the Farm Manager.Key responsibilities include:Direct, coordinate and assist section workers with planting, fertigation, chemical application, harvesting and record keepingOrganise, plan and prioritise work by developing specific goals and block targets aligned to the strategic planConduct soil and leaf analysis for fertigation and pest/disease managementInspect production areas to determine maturity dates and ensure maintenance standardsSchedule senior team leaders for daily activities and monitor progress against budgetEnsure routine maintenance and proper functioning of equipment and machineryDirect, guide, coach, mentor and motivate employees; set performance standards and monitor adherenceEnsure employee development and capacity building; assist new employees with inductionMonitor and enforce adherence to safety regulations, policies and proceduresEnsure quality assurance and compliance with industry regulations including SIZA and Global G.A.P.Coordinate growing activities with engineering, equipment maintenance and other departmentsRecord and maintain all documentation and administrative informationCommunicate internally and externally with management, peers, subordinates, customers and government bodiesIdentify and mitigate operational business risks in each sectionLocation and working arrangement:Based near Nelspruit, Mpumalanga. Accommodation and vehicle are included.Minimum requirements:Minimum 5 years' relevant farm production experienceA relevant tertiary degreeGood agricultural practices and crop production knowledgeTechnical understanding of fruit production functions and horticultural practicesComputer literacy: MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)Basic human resources legislation, particularly those relevant to everyday operationsBasic financial managementDetail and results-orientated approach with ability to work under pressureStrong people-management, relationship-building and interpersonal skillsStrong analytical and problem-solving capabilitiesStrong leadership and excellent planning and organisational skillsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsAdvantageous qualifications:Certificates in farming activities such as irrigation, scouting and plant productionTo apply, please submit your CV with details of your relevant production management experience.
