Position Title: Claims Assessor

Position Overview
An industry-leading global automotive Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Claims Assessor to join their Group Service Department in Kariega.
This role is responsible for overseeing OEM Warranty and Maintenance Plan operations to ensure all dealer claims are accurate, fully compliant with technical guidelines, and cost-effective. The ideal candidate brings extensive technical hands-on background with major automotive brand systems, strong fault-diagnosis capabilities, and excellent dealer liaison skills.
Key Responsibilities
• Claims Assessment & Validation: Evaluate and validate dealer Warranty and Maintenance Plan claims in accordance with strict OEM brand standards and approved policies.
• Compliance & Governance: Ensure dealer network adherence to approved technical procedures, labor time guidelines, and warranty policies.
• Quality & Cost Control: Monitor repair quality and control warranty costs through ongoing claims validation and system-based corrections.
• Dealer Support & Coaching: Actively engage with retail dealerships to resolve warranty/maintenance inquiries and provide technical guidance to improve repair accuracy.
• Reporting & Risk Mitigation: Assist internal stakeholders with audit activities, risk identification, and performance reporting.
Key Requirements
Qualifications:
• Mandatory: Motor Mechanic or Auto Electrician Trade Certificate.
• Mandatory: Master / Diagnostic Technician qualification.
• Advantageous: National Diploma or Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
Work Experience:
• 5–10 years of technical work experience within a recognized OEM / retail dealership environment (specifically VW/Audi brand knowledge preferred).
• Deep experience in advanced mechanical and electrical fault diagnosis.
• Proven track record in dealer, retail, and customer relationship management.
Competencies & Skills:
• Strong analytical, decision-making, and technical problem-solving abilities.
• Diplomatic communication, negotiation, and conflict management skills.
• High level of self-motivation, discipline, and ability to work under pressure.
• Computer literacy in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
