Our client is seeking an experienced and results-driven Buyer to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing supplier relationships, procurement activities, forecasting, cost control, imports, and ensuring the continuous supply of goods and materials at the correct quality, price, and time.

Key Responsibilities

Supplier Management

• Maintain appropriate stock levels to support business requirements.
• Ensure the continuous supply of required goods and materials.
• Identify and communicate any supplier or supply issues that may impact business operations.
• Manage and maintain strong supplier relationships.

Import Management

• Manage relationships with global suppliers.
• Place forward orders and monitor stock levels to ensure effective inventory replenishment.
• Define and manage commercial terms with international suppliers.
• Ensure all required import documentation is completed accurately.
• Manage prepayments where required.

Local Forecasting

• Forecast usage and purchasing requirements for local suppliers.
• Communicate forecasts with suppliers in advance to ensure supply alignment.
• Monitor demand and adjust forecasts where required.

Cost Control

• Conduct market and supplier research to identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Negotiate with suppliers regarding price increases and improved commercial terms.
• Manage the supplier price increase process.
• Communicate forecast and purchasing adjustments to management.

Management Reporting

• Report on supplier performance and supply-related issues.
• Work with suppliers and management to resolve procurement challenges.
• Report on supplier price increases and decreases.
• Manage the review and approval process for pricing changes.

Strategic Supplier Relationships

• Develop and maintain strategic supplier relationships.
• Ensure a professional, consistent, and commercially sound approach is maintained across all supplier engagements.
• Negotiate effectively to secure competitive pricing, quality, and service levels.

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 / Matric required.
• Mathematics advantageous.
• Minimum 5 years' relevant experience as a Buyer.
• Degree/Diploma in Purchasing, Procurement, Supply Chain, or a relevant qualification advantageous.
• Strong working knowledge of Syspro is essential.
• Proven experience in supplier management, procurement, forecasting, and cost control.
• Experience managing local and international suppliers advantageous.
• Strong understanding of purchasing and inventory requirements.
