Business Development Manager – Retail Investments (Cape Town)
Position Type: Permanent Industry: Financial Services / Investment Management Executive Summary Our client, a premier and well-established financial services group in South Africa, is seeking a high-performing Business Development Manager to join their team in Cape Town. This strategic role is responsible for driving market share growth by managing, developing, and expanding a portfolio of investment-focused intermediaries. Key Responsibilities - Business & Portfolio Growth: Sourcing, onboarding, and activating financial intermediaries. Driving sales volumes, meeting monthly targets, and growing regional business via Independent Financial Intermediaries and agency networks. - Intermediary Enablement: Implementing structured support models, providing product/fund insights, and driving adoption of digital investment platform tools. - Upskilling & Training: Training financial advisers and their support staff to improve advice capability, simplify complex investment concepts, and enhance practice sustainability. - Stakeholder Management: Coordinating support campaigns, leading client service engagements, and managing a Business Development Coordinator. - Governance & Compliance: Ensuring full adherence to FAIS, FICA, and industry regulatory frameworks. Minimum Requirements & Qualifications - Qualifications: Relevant financial or investment-focused tertiary degree (e.g., BCom Investment Management or Economics). A CFP designation is highly advantageous. - Experience: 5+ years of experience in an investment industry distribution environment. Proven track record in supporting and developing Independent Financial Adviser (IFA) practices. - Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of retail Collective Investment Schemes (CIS), Linked Investment Service Provider (LISP) platforms, and industry market trends. - Language & Communication: Exceptional presentation skills in both English and Afrikaans. - Licensing & Mobility: Valid drivers license and reliable personal vehicle (travel throughout the region required).
