Mechatronics Engineer - Automation

Our client is seeking an experienced Mechatronics & Automation Engineer to join its Manufacturing team. Reporting to the Manufacturing Director, the successful candidate will support the reliability, development and continuous improvement of automated manufacturing equipment, with a strong focus on PLCs, robotics, machine automation, controls and mechatronic systems.

Automation & Controls

• PLC programming, fault-finding and software backups
• Robot programming and integration
• Machine automation and controls
• PLC panel wiring and electronic machinery
• Upgrades and automation improvement projects

Maintenance & Reliability

• Mechatronics repairs and preventative maintenance
• Troubleshooting and response to equipment faults
• Machine uptime and reliability
• Management of mechatronics spares
• Support to manufacturing departments

Software & Manufacturing IT

• Production IT systems and servers
• Windows Server and IT infrastructure
• Database administration/development
• Programming and software development

Projects & Continuous Improvement

• Develop and implement new mechatronics facilities
• Manage assigned projects, timelines and budgets
• Identify automation opportunities
• Maintain technical documentation

Key technical experience:

• PLC programming – RSLogix 500 / RSLogix 5000, Festo FST and/or Festo CODESYS
• Robot programming – Fanuc, Yaskawa and/or Denso
• Machine automation, integration and controls
• Industrial software/programming experience
• Manufacturing IT infrastructure and database experience

Requirements:

• 3-5 years’ experience in PLC and computer programming environment (of which 1-2 years is software/electronic development experience)
• BSc/BEng/BTech Degree or equivalent qualification in Mechatronics, Electrical, Electronic or Automation Engineering.
