Junior Draftsman – Aluminium / Wood Industry

Job Overview

A well-established organisation is seeking a Junior Draftsman to join its technical and design team. The successful candidate will assist with the preparation of accurate technical drawings and documentation for projects within the aluminium, woodworking, cabinetry, furniture, or related manufacturing environment.
This is an excellent opportunity for a junior candidate looking to develop their drafting skills and gain practical industry experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and update technical drawings using AutoCAD or relevant drafting software.
• Assist with detailed drawings, layouts, measurements and cutting lists.
• Interpret architectural plans, sketches and design specifications.
• Make revisions to drawings based on project requirements.
• Liaise with designers, production teams and project managers to ensure drawings are accurate and practical.
• Assist with site measurements and ensure dimensions are correctly reflected in drawings.
• Maintain organised records of drawings, revisions and technical documentation.
• Ensure drawings comply with project specifications and manufacturing requirements.

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 / Matric.
• Qualification or certificate in Drafting, Design, Engineering Drawing, Interior Design, Architectural Technology or a related field.
• 0–2 years' drafting experience.
• Experience with AutoCAD is essential.
• Exposure to the aluminium, woodworking, cabinetry, furniture, shopfitting or manufacturing industry will be advantageous.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
• Good mathematical and measurement skills.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Willingness to learn and develop within a technical environment.
