Our client is seeking an experienced ECI Engineer to join their engineering team on petrochemical and process plant projects.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the engineering design specification integration and technical support of Electrical Control & Instrumentation (ECI) systems across the full project lifecycle from concept and detailed design through to construction commissioning and handover.
This role requires strong technical knowledge of electrical systems instrumentation control systems and industrial process environments together with the ability to coordinate effectively with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Duties & Responsibilities
Our client is seeking an experienced ECI Engineer to join their engineering team on petrochemical and process plant projects.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the engineering design specification integration and technical support of Electrical Control & Instrumentation (ECI) systems across the full project lifecycle from concept and detailed design through to construction commissioning and handover.
This role requires strong technical knowledge of electrical systems instrumentation control systems and industrial process environments together with the ability to coordinate effectively with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute ECI engineering and design activities for petrochemical oil & gas and process plant projects.
- Develop and review electrical control and instrumentation engineering deliverables.
- Prepare technical specifications datasheets equipment schedules and engineering calculations.
- Design and specify electrical distribution and power systems relevant to process facilities.
- Develop and review instrumentation and control system designs.
- Prepare and review instrument indexes I/O lists cable schedules and instrument datasheets.
- Develop and review control philosophies cause-and-effect diagrams and functional specifications.
- Interface with PLC DCS SCADA and safety instrumented systems.
- Specify and integrate field instrumentation control valves and associated equipment.
- Review electrical and instrumentation layouts cable routing and termination details.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable IEC SANS ISA and client standards.
- Participate in HAZOP HAZID SIL and other technical safety reviews where required.
- Liaise with process mechanical piping civil and structural engineering disciplines.
- Provide technical support during procurement construction and commissioning.
- Review vendor documentation and technical submissions.
- Conduct inspections site surveys and technical assessments.
- Assist with commissioning testing and troubleshooting of ECI systems.
- Support project execution in accordance with budget schedule quality and safety requirements.
- Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and technicians.
Minimum Requirements
- BEng / BSc / BTech in Electrical Engineering Electronic Engineering Control & Instrumentation Engineering or a related discipline.
- 3 years relevant ECI engineering experience preferably within petrochemical oil & gas chemical mining or process plant environments.
- Strong experience in Electrical Control and Instrumentation engineering.
- Experience with brownfield and/or greenfield industrial projects.
- Sound knowledge of industrial electrical systems instrumentation and process control.
- Experience with engineering documentation and design packages.
- Good understanding of applicable engineering codes and standards.
- Proficiency in relevant engineering/design software.
- Strong technical report-writing and documentation skills.
- Valid drivers licence.
- Willingness to travel to project and client sites when required.
