Senior Financial Accountant

IntroductionAn established and rapidly expanding Open Access Service Provider specialising in fibre connectivity is seeking a Senior Financial Accountant to lead statutory reporting and compliance functions. This pivotal role ensures accurate financial reporting in compliance with IFRS/GAAP, robust internal controls, and supports strategic decision-making through detailed financial analysis. You will supervise and mentor the accounting team, drive process improvements, and champion the integration of AI and ERP automation across finance operations.Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare and review statutory accounts in compliance with IFRS/GAAP, implementing and monitoring internal control processesReview journal entries, reconciliations, trial balance reports, and general ledger activityOversee month-end and year-end close activities, including management account preparation and consolidated financial statements for holding companies, operating companies, and affiliatesManage inventory processes to ensure accurate valuation, reporting, and integration with financial systems; develop and enforce policies for inventory recognition and impairment reviewsGenerate accurate financial statements and deliver management packs, client profitability analysis, and detailed cost analysis reports quarterly with variance analysis and projectionsEnsure timely preparation of weekly, monthly, quarterly, semiannual, and annual financial reports for board meetings, audit committees, and operations meetingsCollaborate with operations and supply chain teams to align financial reporting with physical inventory controls; implement best practices for inventory audits, cycle counts, and system-driven controlsOversee budgetary controls and cost accounting; supervise and mentor the accounting team to ensure consistent process complianceInteract with external auditors, provide high-quality documentation, and ensure all tax submissions are completed accurately and on timeAssist with audits, insurance, statutory and financing requirementsIdentify and recommend changes in financial policies and procedures to enhance efficiency; promote automation and effective use of ERP and accounting systemsDrive ERP and AI-enabled automation of inventory tracking, forecasting, and reportingLeverage AI-driven tools to enhance financial reporting accuracy and efficiency; explore and implement AI solutions for predictive analysis and anomaly detectionProvide training and guidance to staff on accounting, inventory, compliance, and system usage; support onboarding and continuous training initiativesStay informed on emerging AI trends in finance and recommend adoption strategiesRequirementsBCom Accounting or equivalent degree (SAIPA)Minimum 5 years' relevant experience in a Senior Financial Accountant role with supervisory experienceStrong proficiency in ERP systems and advanced Microsoft ExcelCorporate finance skills with proven ability to analyse and organise complex financial dataExcellent communication skills (verbal and written)Highly organised, detail-focused, and able to thrive under pressurePrior experience in a shared services environment is advantageousBenefitsMedical Aid company contributionMedical Insurance Company ContributionCorporate Gap Cover ratesDiscounted Internet ConnectivityFree barista-prepared coffee, breakfasts and snacksEmployee Wellness Programme: free 24/7/365 counselling for you and your family, plus other health and wellbeing resources provided by registered professionalsExposure to the latest industry technologies and standardsIf you have not heard from us within two weeks of your application, please consider your application unsuccessful.
