Design Engineer (Mechanical)

Key Responsibilities

• Develop concept and detailed designs for structures, conveyors, and associated equipment using 2D and 3D CAD software.
• Prepare engineering drawings, fabrication drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
• Support tendering, estimation, and proposal development processes.
• Manage engineering projects from initial design through to implementation and completion.
• Conduct feasibility studies, design evaluations, and performance assessments of mechanical systems.
• Investigate equipment failures and maintenance issues at customer sites.
• Liaise with clients to understand and interpret project specifications and requirements.
• Coordinate with internal departments, suppliers, and contractors throughout project lifecycles.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant engineering standards, specifications, quality requirements, and industry codes.
• Monitor project progress, schedules, budgets, and deliverables.
• Prepare and present technical reports, project documentation, and engineering recommendations.
• Support continuous improvement and product development initiatives.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng.) registration preferred.
• Proven experience in a projects-based engineering environment.
• Experience within the mining, materials handling, bulk materials processing, or related heavy engineering industries.
• Strong knowledge of conveyor design and materials handling systems.
• Experience with manufacturing methods, processes, and design for manufacturability.
• Proficiency in:
  • SolidWorks
  • AutoCAD
  • DraftSight
  • ANSYS (FEA)
  • Rocky (DEM)
  • Microsoft Office Suite
• Knowledge of engineering design codes, specifications, and industry standards.
• Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel locally and internationally.
• Clean criminal record.
