Role Overview
An exciting opportunity exists for an Electrical Protection Technician to manage protection, control systems, and primary high-voltage plant equipment at an industrial facility in Ngodwana. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you will ensure optimal plant performance through advanced diagnostic testing and predictive maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
·Test, diagnose, and maintain protection relays, SCADA controls, substation equipment, and high-voltage plant systems.
·Perform routine and preventative maintenance on heavy current electrical machinery (generators, motors, VSD drives, DC systems, compressors, pumps, and drives).
·Troubleshoot electrical faults using diagnostic software to minimize downtime.
·Maintain accurate protection system records within the CMMS software.
·Ensure full compliance with industry safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
·Be available for shift work and overtime when required.
Requirements & Experience
·National Diploma (NQF Level 6) or Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current).
·Minimum 5 years of technical experience in protection and control systems related to high-voltage primary plants.
·Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles, SCADA systems, and protection relays.
·Proven analytical, troubleshooting, computer, and team leadership skills.
