Duties & Responsibilities

An exciting opportunity has become available for a motivated and detail-oriented Financial Accountant to join a dynamic finance team based in Pretoria. This role is ideally suited to a candidate who has completed SAICA or SAIPA Articles and has gained valuable commercial experience post-qualification.
The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining financial integrity supporting reporting requirements ensuring tax compliance and assisting with month-end and year-end processes. This position offers excellent exposure across the finance function and the opportunity to further develop your commercial finance expertise within a supportive and professional environment.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Accounting & Reporting

• Maintain accurate financial records and ensure the integrity of accounting information.
• Manage the General Ledger and ensure all transactions are correctly recorded.
• Prepare and process journal entries accruals and adjustments.
• Assist with monthly quarterly and annual financial reporting requirements.
• Support the preparation of management accounts and financial statements.

Reconciliations & Controls

• Perform balance sheet and General Ledger reconciliations.
• Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies and reconciling items.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting policies.
• Assist in maintaining accurate and complete financial records.

Tax & Compliance

• Prepare and submit VAT returns.
• Assist with tax calculations and related compliance requirements.
• Ensure adherence to relevant accounting standards and statutory regulations.
• Support audit preparation and provide assistance during external audits.

Month-End & Year-End Processes

• Assist with month-end close procedures and reporting deadlines.
• Support year-end financial statement preparation and audit requirements.
• Ensure financial information is accurately captured and reported on time.
• Assist in the preparation of supporting schedules and audit files.

Stakeholder Support & Finance Projects

• Work closely with internal stakeholders to resolve financial queries.
• Provide support with ad hoc financial analysis and reporting requests.
• Contribute to finance improvement initiatives and process enhancements.
• Assist with various accounting projects as required.

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications

• BCom Accounting Finance or a related qualification.
• Completed SAICA or SAIPA Articles.

Experience

• 2-3 years commercial experience post Articles.
• Strong experience within a financial accounting environment.
• Proven exposure to month-end reporting and financial administration.
• Experience preparing financial reports and supporting audits.

Technical Skills

• Strong knowledge of:
  • VAT
  • Taxation
  • Financial Statements
  • Journals
  • General Ledger
  • Account Reconciliations
• Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency.
• Strong ERP and accounting systems experience.
• Exposure to MDA or MRI systems will be advantageous.
