Job description

Job Title: Remote Bookkeeper (Up to Trial Balance)

Location: 100% Remote

Job Type: Full-Time

About the Role: We are seeking a highly organized, efficient, and experienced Remote Bookkeeper to manage a high-volume portfolio. In this role, you will be responsible for full-function bookkeeping up to Trial Balance for a dedicated portfolio of 18 to 25 entities simultaneously.

The ideal candidate is a proactive self-starter who thrives in a fully remote environment, possesses exceptional time-management skills, and has a strong technical background in processing multi-entity accounts, complex reconciliations, and VAT submissions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain full-function bookkeeping up to Trial Balance for 1825 separate sets of books concurrently.
  • Process and reconcile all cashbooks, bank accounts, and credit cards accurately.
  • Calculate, reconcile, and process accurate VAT returns and submissions in compliance with current legislation.
  • Manage Accounts Payable (Creditors) and Accounts Receivable (Debtors), including invoicing, receipting, and reconciliations.
  • Process monthly journal entries, including depreciation, accruals, and prepayments.
  • Ensure all financial records are well-organized, accurate, and up-to-date across multiple client files.
  • Liaise directly with management or clients to resolve queries and gather necessary financial documentation.

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience working as a Bookkeeper up to Trial Balance.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle a high-volume workload (experience managing 15+ sets of books concurrently is highly advantageous).
  • In-depth, practical knowledge of VAT processing, reconciliations, and e-filing submissions.
  • Strong ability to work independently, manage multiple deadlines, and stay focused in a 100% remote working environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Reliable high-speed internet connection and a suitable remote workspace.

Software Proficiency:

  • Extensive, hands-on experience using Sage, Pastel, and/or QuickBooks.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, complex formulas) or Google Sheets.
