About the Role

Our client is looking for a young, energetic and hardworking Junior Buyer to join their team. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years'''' procurement experience, preferably within the building, construction, ceilings, partitions, hardware, manufacturing or related industry.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone who is eager to learn, takes initiative and is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. The position also involves physical stock-taking, so the successful candidate needs to be physically fit and willing to get involved operationally.

Minimum Requirements

• Matric / Grade 12
• Supply Chain, Procurement or related qualification advantageous
• 3+ years'''' procurement experience
• Experience within the building / construction / ceilings & partitions / hardware industry highly advantageous
• Valid Code 8 driver''''s licence
• Own reliable transport preferred
• Able to start work at 07:00
• Good computer literacy
• Strong administration and organisational skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Good attention to detail
• Technically minded, with the ability to understand building, hardware and related products
• Physically fit and comfortable assisting with stock takes

Key Responsibilities

• Procure non-stock items, consumables, repairs and maintenance items, packaging, cleaning materials, PPE and other operational requirements
• Monitor and maintain appropriate stock ordering levels
• Obtain and compare supplier quotations where required
• Generate and process purchase orders
• Track outstanding orders and maintain daily and weekly order reports
• Identify and report procurement variances
• Liaise with departmental heads regarding procurement requirements and variances
• Conduct regular stock takes and assist with stock control
• Perform all relevant procurement and administrative functions
• Participate in weekly inter-branch procurement meetings
• Liaise with suppliers and follow up on outstanding orders and deliveries
• Assist the Senior Buyer with international procurement
• Take initiative in identifying procurement requirements and improving processes
• Build and maintain good relationships with suppliers and internal departments
