- Post-Basic Qualification as a Pharmacist Assistant.
- Registration with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC).
- Sound knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Previous oncology experience.
- Ability to work effectively in a highly stressful environment.
- Good people and communication skills.
- Ability to deal professionally with difficult customers.
- Ability to demonstrate empathy and consistently go the extra mile.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist and advise customers via telephone and email regarding treatment-related queries.
- Manage relationships with practices, medical aids and patients.
- Dispense medication according to prescriptions, treatment plans and medical scheme authorisations.
- Capture prescriptions within the required turnaround time and consistently achieve daily productivity targets.
- Ensure accurate capturing, including correct pack sizes, stock checks and medical scheme claiming codes.
- Process all necessary paperwork for prescriptions and medical aid claims.
- Submit and follow up on paper claims in accordance with scheme requirements.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date customer profiles and contact details on Unisolv.
- Ensure patient and practice delivery addresses are correctly maintained on Marconi.
- Respond appropriately to messages and information recorded on customer profiles.
- Contact medical aids for authorisations and assist with treatment plan changes where required.
- Answer incoming calls and handle or redirect enquiries appropriately.
- Action short-pick and to-follow items within the required turnaround times.
- Maintain daily script tracking and provide reasons for outstanding amounts when required.
- Obtain booking lists and ensure medication is delivered to the practice at least one day prior to treatment.
- Ensure all IV chemotherapy dosages are delivered to the practice one day prior to treatment.
- Keep practices and pharmacists informed of stock shortages.
- Assist with the preparation/mixing of pre-medications under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, where applicable.
- Comply with the Dis-Chem Oncology preferred product list and relevant procedures.
