2025 ACCA Trainee Accountant – Financial Services
Description
BDO South Africa seeks ACCA Trainee Accountants for its Financial Services (FS) division. The 3-year traineeship offers candidates hands-on audit experience, exposure to a range of clients, and the opportunity to develop into a Chartered Certified Accountant. Trainees will work closely with BDO's FS team, gaining expertise in Banking, Insurance, Asset Management, and Funds industries.
Responsibilities
- Perform audits on financial statements and ensure compliance with regulatory standards
- Assist in planning, executing, and finalizing audit engagements
- Evaluate internal controls and identify areas for improvement
- Work closely with clients to gather financial information and documentation
- Maintain strong relationships with clients and address queries professionally
- Analyze financial data and prepare accurate audit reports
- Identify discrepancies and provide recommendations for corrective actions
- Ensure compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), ACCA, and SAICA guidelines
- Stay updated with changes in auditing standards and financial regulations
- Collaborate with audit teams, managers, and partners on various engagements
- Participate in training sessions and provide support to peers
- Actively work towards meeting the competencies required for ACCA or SAICA qualification
- Take initiative in self-learning and improving technical skills
Qualifications
- BCom Accounting Degree/Honours Degree from an ACCA-accredited university
- Auditing as a subject (preference for Honours Degree)
- Advanced Auditing as a professional module
- South African citizenship is required
