Job: Trainee Buyer

The Trainee Buyer will be responsible for the planning, sourcing, selection, and purchasing of specified goods to ensure effective and profitable planning of products in the correct quantities, at the right time, place, and price. This role aims to enhance the productivity and profitability of the department through efficient execution of daily tasks while maintaining strong relationships with suppliers and stakeholders. The Trainee Buyer will also provide additional support to the Buyer and Senior Buyer within the team.

Responsibilities

• Execute product range building and line determination
• Conduct activities related to product pricing
• Provide input to formalize article range, stock, and price point
• Conduct product reviews
• Determine merchandising layout
• Plan and execute promotional and advertising events
• Maintain stock levels and resolve any stock issues in stores and the distribution center (DC)
• Administer invoice and purchase order processes
• Support buyer-related activities
• Perform market and competitor research

Qualifications

• Degree/Diploma in Business, Finance, Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related field
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365
• Exposure to analytics tools
• High level of self-motivation and drive to meet and exceed goals
• Proactive learner who identifies new learning opportunities
• Analytical with strong numeracy skills for complex calculations
• Detail-oriented and organized, with a focus on accuracy
• Effective communication skills in English (both spoken and written)
• Strong team player who builds positive relationships
• Able to work independently or collaboratively under pressure in a fast-paced environment
• Demonstrates integrity and accountability
