POSITION INFO:

About the Client

Our client, an established and reputable financial services and corporate entity, is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Compliance & Governance Officer to oversee their group-wide regulatory compliance and governance framework. This role serves as a vital bridge supporting both their Wealth and Corporate divisions, ensuring high standards of integrity, risk management, and statutory adherence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Framework Management: Maintain, monitor, and oversee the organization''s compliance framework, policies, registers, and governance programs.

  • Regulatory Oversight: Ensure continuous compliance with key legislative frameworks, including FICA, PAIA, FSCA, and general corporate governance requirements.

  • Risk & Monitoring: Conduct regular compliance monitoring, risk assessments, and internal audits to identify and mitigate operational risks.

  • Submissions & Reporting: Prepare accurate regulatory returns, statutory submissions, and maintain official compliance documentation.

  • Division Support: Provide specialized compliance advice and regulatory guidance directly to the Wealth division.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the primary point of contact with regulatory bodies, external compliance officers, and third-party service providers.

  • Training & Advisory: Develop and facilitate internal compliance training to embed best-practice governance and risk management across the company.

Requirements

  • Education: Relevant tertiary qualification in Law, Compliance, Risk Management, or a related field.

  • Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of dedicated experience in a compliance or governance role.

  • Sector Knowledge: Financial services experience is highly advantageous.

  • Legislative Understanding: Strong, practical knowledge of FICA, PAIA, FSCA regulations, and modern corporate governance principles.

  • Core Competencies: Exceptional analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.

  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication abilities paired with high integrity and professionalism.
