Accounts Assistant

A well-established hospitality management group based in Johannesburg is seeking a meticulous and reliable ACCOUNTS ASSISTANT to join their finance team

This is a numbers-focused, process-driven role suited to someone with solid hospitality finance experience who thrives on accuracy, deadlines, and keeping control systems airtight. You'll be the person management relies on to flag variances before they become problems.

Core Criteria:

• 1 to 3 years' experience in accounts or finance within the hospitality industry, with a solid track record
• Proficient in Pastel accounting software
• Good to advanced Excel skills and strong overall Microsoft Office proficiency
• Matric essential; a further finance qualification is advantageous
• Valid South African ID
• High attention to detail and a methodical approach to reconciliations
• Comfortable working to strict daily, weekly, and monthly reporting deadlines

Core Responsibilities:

• Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly returns on the prescribed format
• Process supplier invoices, liaise directly with suppliers, and resolve queries
• Manage accruals and prepayments relating to accounts payable
• Reconcile petty cash, cash, and floats against daily income and expenditure
• Prepare monthly journals
• Process, reconcile, and collect on debtor accounts
• Notify management immediately of any variances
• Complete documentation for the receipt and issuing of commodities
• Report shortages, surpluses, or irregularities and resolve queries promptly
• Keep petty cash vouchers and supporting documentation securely and systematically filed
• Ensure control systems operate effectively within agreed parameters
