Our Client is leading outsourced sales, marketing and revenue management company specialising in the hospitality and tourism industry. They work with hotels, guest houses, safari lodges and tourism businesses across Southern and East Africa, helping clients grow their businesses through strategic and results-driven marketing and commercial solutions.

They are looking for a talented and enthusiastic Social Media Consultant to join their growing team and manage social media accounts for a portfolio of exciting hospitality clients.

THE ROLE

As a Social Media Consultant – Hospitality, you will be responsible for managing and growing the social media presence of our clients across Facebook and Instagram.

You will work closely with their clients, receiving photography, promotional information, property updates and other relevant content, and turning these into creative, engaging and professionally presented social media posts that showcase each property and encourage bookings and engagement.

This is a hands-on role for someone who understands social media, has excellent written communication skills and knows how to create compelling content from existing client-supplied assets.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Social Media Management

• Manage Facebook and Instagram accounts for a portfolio of hospitality clients.
• Develop and maintain monthly social media content calendars.
• Schedule and publish engaging and brand-appropriate content.
• Ensure content is consistent with each client's brand, tone of voice and marketing objectives.
• Manage posting schedules and ensure content is published accurately and on time.
• Monitor social media activity, engagement and audience interaction.

Content Development

• Review and select suitable photography and information supplied by clients.
• Edit and enhance images where required to ensure they are suitable for social media.
• Write engaging, creative and conversion-focused captions and social media copy.
• Turn client promotions, packages, experiences, events and property information into compelling social media content.
• Create simple social media graphics and visual assets where required.
• Adapt content appropriately for Facebook and Instagram.
• Keep up to date with current social media trends, formats and best practices.

Client Communication

• Communicate professionally and proactively with clients to obtain content, promotions, updates and approvals.
• Build strong working relationships with clients and understand their individual brands and target markets.
• Follow up with clients when required content or information is outstanding.
• Provide clients with professional advice and recommendations on their social media presence.
• Ensure client feedback and amendments are actioned accurately and timeously.

Reporting & Performance

• Monitor social media performance and engagement.
• Prepare and provide regular social media reports for clients.
• Identify opportunities to improve engagement, reach and overall social media performance.
• Use insights and analytics to inform future content.

WHAT THEY ARE LOOKING FOR

Our client is looking for someone who is creative, organised, proactive and commercially minded, with a genuine passion for social media and the hospitality and tourism industry.

The ideal candidate will have:

• 2–4 years' experience in social media management, preferably within hospitality, tourism, travel or a related industry.
• Strong knowledge of Facebook and Instagram.
• Excellent written English and strong copywriting skills.
• A good eye for photography, design and visual presentation.
• Experience editing images and creating social media-ready content.
• An understanding of social media scheduling and publishing platforms.
• Good knowledge of social media trends and best practices.
• Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills.
• The ability to manage multiple client accounts and deadlines simultaneously.
• Excellent communication and client relationship skills.
• The ability to work independently and manage your workload effectively in a remote environment.
• A professional, positive and solutions-focused approach.

ADVANTAGEOUS

The following would be advantageous but are not essential:

• Experience working with hotels, guest houses, safari lodges, tour operators or travel companies.
• Experience with Canva or similar design platforms.
• Experience with social media scheduling tools.
• Basic understanding of social media analytics and insights.
• Experience creating or editing Reels and short-form video using client-supplied footage.
• Knowledge of the African hospitality and tourism market.
