Maintenance Intern

Maintenance Intern | 12-Month Fixed-Term Contract | East London

SCallaghan Recruitment is recruiting a Maintenance Intern for a well-established manufacturing company based in East London.

This opportunity is suited to a recent Electrical Engineering or Mechatronics graduate who would like to gain practical experience within a manufacturing environment.

The successful candidate will work alongside experienced technical teams and gain hands-on exposure to maintenance, fault-finding, continuous improvement and equipment reliability.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with preventative and breakdown maintenance.
• Support maintenance technicians and engineers with fault-finding and repairs.
• Assist with equipment inspections and maintenance planning.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, reports and documents.
• Support projects aimed at improving equipment reliability and efficiency.
• Follow all quality, safety and environmental procedures.
• Work closely with production, maintenance and engineering teams.
• Take part in technical projects and process improvement activities.

Minimum Requirements

• Completed NQF Level 6 or NQF Level 7 Diploma or Degree in:
  • Electrical Engineering; or
  • Mechatronics Engineering.
• Basic understanding of engineering and maintenance principles.
• Good computer literacy, including Microsoft Office.
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication and people skills.
• Highly motivated, self-driven and willing to learn.
• Ability to work well within a team.
