About Role

Are you an experienced sales professional with a strong background in Fluid Control, Steel or related industrial products? We are looking for a driven External Sales Representative to grow existing accounts, develop new business and achieve monthly sales and GP targets.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Service and grow existing customer accounts.

• Identify and develop new business opportunities and open new accounts.

• Conduct market research and monitor competitor pricing and activity.

• Generate leads, follow up on enquiries and convert opportunities into sales.

• Provide customers with technical advice and product solutions.

• Prepare sales forecasts, budget forecasts and call reports.

• Build and maintain strong customer relationships.

• Achieve monthly sales and GP targets.

• Follow up on customer deliveries, quotations and outstanding queries.

• Handle customer complaints, repairs and returns professionally.

• Assist with quotations and large orders.

• Assist customers and internal sales staff with product and pricing queries.

• Monitor slow-moving and dead stock and assist with stock management.

• Assist with supplier negotiations on large buyout orders.

• Process purchase orders and ensure the required approval procedures are followed.

• Monitor selling prices, discounts and competitor pricing.

• Assist the debtors department with customer account queries.

• Ensure EFT and COD payments are authorised and correctly processed before stock is released.

• Assist with customer open days, training and company meetings.

• Provide support and guidance to internal and external sales staff when required.

• Ensure high levels of customer service are maintained.

• Provide weekly sales, GP and new business development reports to management.

REQUIREMENTS

• Proven experience in external sales, preferably within the steel, fluid control, engineering, plumbing, industrial or related industry.

• Strong track record of achieving sales targets.

• Experience in new business development and account management.

• Good understanding of sales margins, GP and pricing.

• Strong product and technical knowledge.

• Experience dealing with suppliers and negotiating pricing will be advantageous.

• Excellent customer relationship and communication skills.

• Strong negotiation and closing abilities.

• Good administrative and reporting skills.

• Computer literate with experience working on an ERP/sales system.

• Self-motivated, target-driven and commercially minded.
