Millwright

SUMMARY:
Our client, a well-established packaging manufacturing company, is seeking a qualified and experienced Millwright to join their Engineering and Maintenance team in Cape Town.

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and improving the reliability of production machinery and plant equipment, ensuring maximum equipment availability and minimal production downtime.

POSITION INFO:

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct preventative, predictive and corrective maintenance on production machinery and plant equipment.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic faults.
• Perform fault-finding on automated production equipment and control systems.
• Attend to equipment breakdowns promptly to minimise production downtime.
• Install, commission and maintain new machinery and equipment.
• Conduct planned maintenance and equipment inspections.
• Identify recurring equipment failures and perform root-cause analysis.
• Assist with machinery upgrades, modifications and continuous improvement projects.
• Read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings, schematics and manuals.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and breakdowns.
• Work closely with Production and Engineering teams to improve machine reliability.
• Ensure all maintenance activities comply with health, safety and quality requirements.
• Participate in planned shutdowns and maintenance projects.
• Maintain a high standard of housekeeping within the engineering and production areas.

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 / Matric.
• N6 / National Diploma in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering will be advantageous.
• Trade Tested Millwright – Red Seal.
• Minimum 3–5 years' experience as a Millwright within a manufacturing environment.
• Experience in a packaging, FMCG, converting, printing or high-volume production environment will be advantageous.
• Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding capabilities.
• Experience with PLC-controlled machinery will be advantageous.
• Knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
• Ability to work shifts, overtime and standby when required.
