SUMMARY:
Our client is looking for an experienced and technically strong Utilities Technician to join their engineering and maintenance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the reliable operation, maintenance and availability of critical utility systems supporting production.
This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on technician who understands industrial utilities, preventative maintenance and fault-finding and who can work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
POSITION INFO:
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and troubleshoot industrial utility systems and equipment.
- Conduct preventative and corrective maintenance on utility infrastructure.
- Monitor and maintain compressed air, steam, water, refrigeration, HVAC and related systems.
- Perform inspections to identify potential equipment failures and maintenance requirements.
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults and implement corrective actions.
- Monitor utility consumption and identify opportunities for energy and cost savings.
- Assist with maintaining boilers, compressors, pumps, cooling systems and associated equipment.
- Ensure utilities are available and operating reliably to support production requirements.
- Conduct equipment checks and record maintenance activities accurately.
- Assist with planned shutdowns, installations and commissioning of utility equipment.
- Liaise with production and engineering teams to resolve utility-related issues.
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with health, safety, environmental and quality standards.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives aimed at improving equipment reliability and plant efficiency.
Minimum Requirements
- N6 / National Diploma / Technical qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering will be advantageous.
- Trade Tested Artisan such as Millwright, Fitter, Electrician or related trade.
- Minimum 3–5 years' experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment.
- Proven experience working with plant utilities and maintenance systems.
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving abilities.
- Knowledge of preventative and planned maintenance practices.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, manuals and schematics.
- Computer literacy and experience using maintenance management systems will be advantageous.
