Technical Advisor

Minimum requirements: - Bachelors degree (BSc) in Agriculture, Horticulture or a related agricultural field - A masters degree (MSc) in a relevant field will be considered an advantage - Demonstrated technical experience and practical knowledge within the stone fruit production industry - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate technical information into practical production solutions - Ability and willingness to travel regularly to various production regions and operational sites - Valid drivers licence - Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams and industry stakeholders Duties: - Provide expert technical and horticultural support to stone fruit production operations, with a focus on improving productivity, quality and overall orchard performance - Develop, coordinate and implement technical programmes, field trials and continuous improvement projects across production units - Evaluate and provide recommendations regarding new orchard developments, including cultivar selection, rootstock choices, planting systems and modern production practices - Assess and monitor fruit quality throughout the complete supply chain, from orchard production through packing, storage and export - Review and interpret production, quality and post-harvest data to identify opportunities for improvement and implement practical solutions - Collaborate with breeding programmes, cultivar developers and industry specialists to support the evaluation and development of new cultivars and products - Build and maintain effective working relationships with production teams, customers, technical specialists and relevant industry stakeholders - Provide technical guidance, mentorship and training to production personnel to promote the consistent application of best practices - Stay informed of developments, technologies, research and industry trends relevant to stone fruit production - Undertake any additional duties and responsibilities reasonably associated with the position Consultant: Karlia v Eeden - Dante Personnel Greenstone
