Description

We are seeking an experienced IBM WebSpherexx Subject Matter Expert (SME) to lead installation, configuration, upgrade, migration, and support activities for XXX environments. This contract role is based in Johannesburg with a hybrid working arrangement requiring three days per week on-site. Duration: 12 months (renewal possible).

Responsibilities

• Lead IBM WebSphere Liberty installation, configuration, administration, and optimization efforts.
• Assess, plan, and execute Liberty version upgrades, migrations, and modernization initiatives.
• Configure and manage Liberty servers, clusters, JVM settings, and security components.
• Troubleshoot application, JVM, and performance-related issues; analyse logs and heap/thread dumps.
• Implement and manage SSL/TLS, LDAP, Kerberos, and related security integrations.
• Support CI/CD integrations and automate application deployments.
• Collaborate with development, operations, and support teams during deployments and critical incidents.
• Ensure compliance with enterprise standards and provide L3 support and documentation.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of middleware experience with demonstrable Liberty-related projects and upgrades.
• Strong background in middleware administration, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automation tools, and containerization technologies preferred.
• Proven ability to lead migrations and modernization efforts and to work with cross-functional teams.
• Excellent communication skills and availability to work on-site in Johannesburg three days per week.
