Category Manager - Indirect Procurement

About the Role

Our client is seeking a strategic and experienced Category Manager specializing in Indirect Procurement to join their team in Polokwane. This role is responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies for various indirect spend categories, such as IT, marketing, HR, and professional services. You will lead complex negotiations, manage key supplier relationships, and drive significant cost savings and value creation for the organization. The successful candidate will leverage market expertise and strong analytical skills to optimize procurement processes and support business objectives within the Limpopo region.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement category strategies for indirect spend areas, aligning with business needs and market opportunities.
• Lead end-to-end sourcing projects, including RFx development, supplier evaluation, and contract negotiation.
• Manage key supplier relationships, ensuring performance meets contractual obligations and fostering strategic partnerships.
• Analyze spend patterns and market intelligence to identify cost reduction opportunities and mitigate supply chain risks.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand their requirements and ensure procurement solutions meet their needs effectively.
• Monitor category performance against targets and continuously seek opportunities for improvement and innovation in Polokwane.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in indirect procurement, category management, or strategic sourcing.
• Proven expertise in negotiating complex contracts and managing diverse supplier portfolios.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret market data to drive strategic decisions.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience with procurement best practices and relevant sourcing tools.
