Job Description

To support the shaping of the RMB core brands premium leadership status by initiating, developing and implementing strategic brand builders and providing leadership around RMBs above and below-the-line advertising

  • Initiate dialogue to build professional working relationships with all stakeholders displaying excellent abilities to listen, advise, influence, negotiate and present at all levels
  • Lead and facilitate difficult conflict situations into consensual agreements
  • Integrate opinions and information provided by various sources to make strategic decisions
  • Adapt communication styles to meet the needs of different audiences
  • Continually scan the industry to identify opportunities to create strategic partnerships with key individuals and bodies
  • Provide ongoing strategic input and leadership around the conceptualisation and implementation of
  • RMBs above and below-the-line advertising and sponsorships
  • Partner closely with the business to understand their advertising needs and develop advertising strategies and tactics to support their growth e.g. by creatively interpreting a deal into an appropriate communication format that aims for an intelligent smile
  • Monitor effectiveness of implementation of advertising, hospitality and sponsorships across all relevant channels with the business and Corporate Marketing Heads
  • Provide strategic input to the function from a brand character and networking perspective
  • Chair RMB Fund and ensure sustainable business decisions are made
  • Act as a trustee of the FirstRand foundation
  • Continually build and grow a network of artists impressarios galleries and other potential brand building and marketing partners
  • Allow RMB target market early buying opportunity at art work exhibitions
  • Participate and engage in studio time and exhibit walks with artists
  • Display an in-depth understanding of RMBs business culture and target market
  • Provide strategic input into the character of the RMB brand
  • Identify strategic brand building opportunities
  • Ensure campaigns speak deeply to the culture and personality of the RMB brand and that they are
  • activated internally where appropriate
  • Demonstrate strong creative problem solving skills in being able to find solutions to difficult challenges
  • Support the business and Corporate Marketing team to come up with opportunities to grow the RMB brand in its target markets
  • Take full responsibility for performance management of all direct reports managing their performance in relation to quality standards and agreed benchmarks and objectives focusing on all aspects of sound people management
  • Engage in recruitment development, performance management, remuneration and rewards, career path planning, on the job training, coaching, and mentoring
  • Ensure appropriate levels of management and accountability
  • Motivate, delegate, and empower appropriately, enabling direct reports to take responsibility and display appropriate creativity and initiative
  • Work with the team to actively grow their skills and lead them in operational excellence
  • Demonstrate pride in the organisations brand services and products by consistently delivering on the brands promise
  • Follow through to ensure that personal quality and productivity standards are consistently and accurately maintained
  • Stay relevant and up to date with legislations and new developments
  • Maintain a positive attitude and respond openly to feedback
  • Handle stress in ways that do not negatively impact others
  • Plan and manage own workflow anticipating obstacles juggling priorities and following through on objectives within agreed time frames and according to quality standards
