Renewable Energy Project Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a motivated Renewable Energy Project Engineer to support the development and execution of solar and wind projects in the Northern Cape region, based in Upington . This role will involve technical design, project coordination, and site supervision to ensure projects are built to specification, on time, and within budget. You will work closely with project managers, EPC contractors, and site teams to overcome technical challenges and ensure the successful delivery of high-quality renewable energy installations. This hands‑on role is essential for bringing clean energy solutions to life in a key renewable energy hub.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical engineering support throughout the project lifecycle, from feasibility studies to commissioning.
• Review and approve detailed engineering designs and calculations for solar PV and wind energy systems.
• Coordinate with EPC contractors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of equipment and materials.
• Oversee site construction activities, ensuring adherence to design specifications, safety standards, and quality control procedures.
• Troubleshoot technical issues that arise during construction and commissioning phases.
• Prepare technical reports, progress updates, and documentation for project close-out.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in project engineering , preferably within the renewable energy sector (solar or wind).
• Strong understanding of engineering principles related to solar PV systems, wind turbines, and associated electrical infrastructure.
• Experience with project management software and construction oversight.
• Excellent problem‑solving, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively on‑site in challenging conditions and collaborate with diverse project teams in Upington .
