Ground Support Equipment Mechanic

About the Role

Our client is looking for a dedicated Ground Support Equipment Mechanic to maintain their fleet of essential airport vehicles and equipment in Benoni . This role is vital for ensuring the smooth and safe operation of ground services at the airport. You will be responsible for the inspection, maintenance, and repair of a wide range of GSE, including baggage tractors, de-icers, and tow vehicles. This is a hands‑on position for a mechanically inclined individual who thrives in a dynamic operational environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and routine inspections on various types of ground support equipment (GSE).
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on GSE fleet.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and logs for all serviced equipment.
• Ensure all repairs and maintenance activities comply with safety regulations and company procedures.
• Operate and test repaired equipment to ensure proper functionality and safety.
• Respond to emergency repair needs to minimize equipment downtime.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Mechanic , preferably with a focus on heavy equipment or automotive repair.
• Strong mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
• Knowledge of safety procedures for operating and maintaining heavy machinery.
• Valid driver's license and ability to obtain airport security clearance.
• Experience with aviation‑specific GSE is a significant advantage.
