Geological Engineer - Mining & Energy

Our client is seeking a skilled Geological Engineer to join their team in Rustenburg , a key hub for mining and energy operations. This role involves conducting detailed geological surveys and analyses to support the extraction and management of natural resources. You will work closely with mining engineers, geologists, and environmental specialists to assess geological risks, identify resource potential, and ensure safe and efficient operations. This is an on-site position that requires a strong understanding of geological principles applied to the energy and mining sectors. Your expertise will be crucial in guiding exploration and development activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct geological investigations and site characterization for mining and energy projects.
• Analyze geological data, including core samples, seismic surveys, and borehole logs, to assess resource potential and geological hazards.
• Develop and implement exploration and resource assessment strategies.
• Provide technical expertise on geotechnical aspects, slope stability, and ground support for mining operations.
• Prepare detailed geological reports, maps, and 3D models for internal stakeholders and regulatory submissions.
• Collaborate with mine planning and operations teams to optimize resource extraction and minimize environmental impact.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Geological Engineering, Mining Engineering, or a closely related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in geological engineering , with a focus on the mining or energy sectors.
• Proficiency in geological modeling software (e.g., Leapfrog, MinePlan) and GIS tools.
• Strong understanding of rock mechanics, hydrogeology, and exploration techniques.
• Experience with field data collection, sampling, and laboratory analysis.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and reporting skills.
