Process Control Engineer - Chemical

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Process Control Engineer to join their team in Nelspruit . This role focuses on designing, implementing, and maintaining advanced process control systems to ensure optimal performance, safety, and efficiency of chemical manufacturing operations. You will work with Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), and advanced regulatory and inferential control strategies. This is a critical role for an engineer passionate about automation and optimizing complex industrial processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, configure, and implement DCS and PLC -based control systems for chemical processes.
• Develop and tune advanced regulatory control loops and implement advanced process control (APC) strategies.
• Troubleshoot and maintain existing control systems, ensuring system reliability and performance.
• Collaborate with process engineers to define control strategies and improve process stability.
• Develop and execute control system testing and commissioning plans.
• Provide technical support and training to operations and maintenance personnel.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering , Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in process control engineering within the chemical industry.
• Proficiency with major DCS platforms (e.g., Emerson DeltaV, Honeywell Experion) and PLC programming.
• Strong understanding of process dynamics , control theory, and instrumentation.
• Experience with alarm management and cybersecurity for industrial control systems.
• Problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
