About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated Mine Ventilation Engineer to oversee the ventilation systems at their operations near Vereeniging . This critical role focuses on ensuring a safe and healthy underground working environment by designing, implementing, and monitoring effective ventilation and environmental controls. You will work closely with mine operations, safety personnel, and management to maintain optimal air quality, temperature, and humidity, directly impacting worker safety and productivity in the demanding conditions of underground mining.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, install, and maintain mine ventilation systems to provide adequate airflow and environmental conditions.
- Conduct regular surveys of airflow, air quality, and temperature throughout the mine.
- Develop and implement dust suppression and control strategies.
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations related to mine ventilation.
- Optimize ventilation systems for energy efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Investigate and resolve ventilation-related issues and hazards.
- Prepare ventilation plans and reports for regulatory submissions.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or Mechanical Engineering with a focus on ventilation.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in mine ventilation engineering, preferably in underground mining .
- Strong knowledge of ventilation principles, fan systems, and air monitoring equipment.
- Familiarity with mine ventilation software and modeling tools.
- Understanding of mine dust control and gas monitoring techniques.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
