About the Role

Our client is looking for a diligent Grid Operations Specialist to join their team in Benoni . This role is integral to the efficient and reliable operation of the regional power distribution network. You will monitor grid performance, respond to disturbances, and coordinate operational activities to ensure uninterrupted energy supply. This position offers a chance to work at the heart of the energy sector , managing critical infrastructure and contributing to the stability of power delivery across Gauteng . The hybrid work model allows for essential on-site duties combined with remote analysis and coordination.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor real-time power grid operations using SCADA systems and other relevant tools.
• Respond to and manage power system disturbances, outages, and emergency situations.
• Coordinate switching operations and planned maintenance activities on the distribution network.
• Analyze grid performance data to identify potential issues and recommend operational improvements.
• Communicate effectively with field crews, control centers, and other stakeholders during normal and emergency operations.
• Ensure compliance with operational procedures, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements for power distribution .

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in power system operations, grid control, or distribution network management.
• Proficiency with SCADA systems and other grid monitoring software.
• Strong understanding of power flow, load balancing, and electrical system protection principles.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and make critical decisions during grid events.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills for a hybrid operational environment.
