Petroleum Engineer - Wellbore Design

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Petroleum Engineer with a focus on Wellbore Design to join their operations based in Klerksdorp . This role is essential for planning and designing safe, efficient, and cost-effective wellbores for oil and gas exploration and production. You will work closely with drilling, geology, and reservoir teams to ensure well designs meet project objectives and regulatory requirements. This position offers a chance to contribute directly to the success of projects within the challenging Oil & Gas industry in the North West province.

Key Responsibilities

• Design well plans, including casing and cementing programs, and trajectory analysis.
• Perform risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies for wellbore integrity and drilling hazards.
• Select appropriate drilling fluids, bit types, and downhole tools based on geological conditions.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, best practices, and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with drilling supervisors and contractors to execute well designs effectively.
• Participate in post-well analysis and lessons learned sessions to improve future designs.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering or a closely related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in petroleum engineering, with specific experience in wellbore design.
• Proficiency in well planning software and relevant engineering principles.
• Solid understanding of drilling operations, geology, and reservoir engineering concepts.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented operational environment in Klerksdorp.
