Research Assistant - Biotechnology

About the Role

Our client is seeking a meticulous and enthusiastic Research Assistant to support their dynamic Biotechnology research team based in Rustenburg . This hands-on role involves direct involvement in laboratory experiments, assisting senior scientists in their daily research activities. You will gain invaluable experience in a variety of experimental techniques, contributing to projects focused on developing novel biopharmaceutical products. Key Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of laboratory experiments under the guidance of senior researchers, including cell culture, DNA/RNA extraction, and basic molecular assays.
• Prepare reagents, media, and solutions according to established protocols.
• Maintain accurate and detailed laboratory notebooks and records.
• Operate and maintain common laboratory equipment, ensuring proper functioning and calibration.
• Assist in the organization and inventory of laboratory supplies and samples.
• Contribute to the overall cleanliness and organization of the laboratory workspace.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Biotechnology, Biology, Biochemistry, or a related scientific discipline.
• Previous laboratory experience, preferably in an academic or industry research setting.
• Familiarity with basic laboratory techniques and equipment.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to follow instructions precisely and work effectively within a team.
• Basic understanding of laboratory safety procedures.
