PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

Teaching of undergraduate & postgraduate students, research and supervision of honours students; organisational & management tasks.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Teaching and learning:

Teaching of undergraduate & postgraduate students.

2. Research and Innovation:

Conduction research and supervision of postgraduate students.

3. Organisational & management tasks:

Assist with management tasks.
A Masters’ degree (NQF level 9) in Algebra, Functional Analysis, Topology or Differential Geometry.
A minimum of 2 years’ experience lecturing undergraduate and postgraduate students.

RECOMMENDATIONS / ADDED ADVANTAGES:

Membership with the South African Mathematical Society (SAMS) or America Mathematical Society (AMS).
Proof of PhD registration or an intention to register for PhD.

KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:

Latex, Word, Excel and Powerpoint
Outlook, Matlab.

BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES:

Work independently, but also as a team.
Have good people skills.
Professional and ethical behaviour.
Be able to act as a mentor for junior staff.

REMUNERATION:

The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
