Geologist - Mining & Energy Exploration

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled and analytical Geologist to join their exploration team in Rustenburg , focusing on mineral and energy resource identification. You will be responsible for conducting field surveys, analyzing geological data, and identifying potential resource deposits. This role is critical for the company's strategic growth, requiring a deep understanding of geological principles and advanced analytical techniques. The successful candidate will work within a challenging yet rewarding environment, contributing to the discovery and assessment of valuable natural resources in the North West province and beyond.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and execute geological field surveys, including mapping, sampling, and core logging.
• Analyze geological data using specialized software (e.g., GIS, modeling software) to interpret subsurface structures and identify potential resource zones.
• Prepare detailed geological reports, including resource estimations and risk assessments.
• Collaborate with geophysicists, geochemists, and engineers on exploration strategies and project development.
• Maintain and update geological databases and ensure data integrity.
• Advise on drilling programs and supervise exploration activities.

Requirements

• Master's or Ph.D. in Geology or a related geoscience discipline.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in geological exploration, preferably in mining or energy resources.
• Proficiency in geological mapping techniques and data analysis software.
• Experience with resource estimation methods and geological modeling.
• Strong understanding of geochemistry, geophysics, and mineralogy relevant to resource exploration.
• Excellent report writing and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex findings clearly.
